Originally based on Mozilla Firefox, Pale Moon has been gradually taking steps apart from it. One of these recent moves is that Pale Moon has started to use its own rendering engine, called Goanna, which is still very similar to Mozilla’s Gecko. Pale Moon´s interface also resembles those of former Firefox versions, so you can see a similar layout, including tabs that allow opening multiple pages simultaneously. Moreover, the browser is highly customizable, with support of themes.
Just as it comes, Pale Moon has a download manager. It also allows creating navigation groups, which permits a more efficient management of your bookmarks. In addition, it lets you inspect page code. Fortunately, not only its appearance can be personalized, but also its features. In this regard, the browser supports most Firefox´s extensions.
According to the results of benchmarking tests, Pale Moon may be not as fast as other browsers, and even its developers acknowledge this fact. However, they claim that these types of tests don’t represent actual browsing experiences and that Pale Moon undoubtedly excels in terms of stability, CPU usage efficiency and navigation smoothness. Besides, the application is also considered among the securest browsers available.
All in all, Pale Moon is a valid alternative to other browsers, mainly Mozilla Firefox. It has proven to be reasonably fast and incredibly secure. Yet, the recent under-the-hood changes may have unfortunately brought about compatibility issues with some websites as well as decreased the number of supported extensions. An undeniable advantage of this browser is that it already has an extensive community of developers devoted to its improvement.
It allows you to rename file name extensions for single or all files in folder

Pale Moon is a fast, stable and customizable OpenSource browser with security options which other browsers didn't have (like the intern XSS filter).
From my side, I highly recommend Pale Moon!
Used to be good, but not anymore. Will look for a new alternative to Firefox.
